Why there's no universal price
A container's cost varies by line, season, availability and fuel: sea freight rates are volatile and can double from one period to another. Any "fixed price" claim should be treated with caution. The right approach isn't to look for a number, but to budget each item.
The items to include
Beyond the sea freight itself, count: local transport at origin (factory → port), port and handling fees at both ends, insurance, customs clearance, duties and import VAT, final delivery, and possible demurrage charges if the container isn't picked up in time.
Building a reliable budget
List each item rather than a lump sum, then relate the total to the goods value: this ratio reveals whether transport weighs too heavily on a given product. It's more useful than an average price found online.
